Hey guys, as the title says I am building my first gaming PC. My current computer was passed down from my parents ands it 8+ years old now. I don't even know what it has inside, but I can't even imagine playing games on it now. So basically I am looking at buying a new system for gaming. My budget is about AU$2000. I don't have any specific games to cite but I want it to be able to play most games, preferably at high settings though. I'm not to fazed if I need to go above $2000 since I need it to include everything, monitor, keyboard, mouse, OS.

Thanks in advance :)

i would get a 3770k because that would be cheaper but still quite good,  windows 7 more comftable OS, nvidia 660 ti because really you don't need much more than that. unless you want super good gaphics which you probally dont since you were coming from a non gaming pc.

yeah thats my two cents pretty ovious stuff thou

Cpu: Intel i5- 4570 | Ram: Crucial DDR3 8GB | Video Card: Evega GTX 660 Ti 2GB Super Clocked

Monitor: Philips 24" | Keyboard: CM Storm Quickfire TK | Mouse: Logitech G700s |

Steam

pretty much what the other guy said though in my opinion i would sli 660 ti's, get 8gb of ram either g,skill or corsair a 3770k on a sabertooth z77 a small ssd for boot a few mechanicals in raid for everything else and whatever case you want, oh and about a 750 watt psu should be perfect :)

Edit: for a mouse i would suggest a roccat kone+ or something from razer, keyboard wise i would suggest either a razer blackwidow or a logitech g710+ monitor is preference i would go with something from asus with a 1920x1080 res so you can run games at decently high settings if not maxxed

CPU - i5 4670k - $275

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H - $229

GPU - Galaxy GeForce GTX 770 - $469

Case - Corsair 650D - $195

PSU - Corsair HX-850 V2 - $185

SSD - Samsung 840 (Non Pro) 120GB - $109

HDD - Western Digital WD Green 1TB - $69

RAM - G.Skill Rigjaws 2x4GB (1600mhz) - $82

CPU Cooler - Swiftech H220 - $149 (Not sure if it fits a LGA 1150, if not a H110 will do)

Total - $1762 AUD

Its not really worth it spending over $2000 for a gaming PC. Any gaming PC over $2000 only offers slightly more performance than a $1500 PC.

Here you go: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/12GAn $1705 AUS

3570k is still a very powerful cpu. Haswell is not worth the upgrade.

The NH-D14 is powerful andn quiet. You should be able to pull a 4.6ghz clock off of this.

Got black mobo/ram,

Samsung 840 SSD--Great performance and price.

Seagate barracuda drive for storage. Fast drive as well--excellent for games.

GTX 780--awesome card.

350D -- beautiful case with window panel to enjoy the nice 780 glowing inside the case.

The 650w wil leve PLENTY of room for overclocking and adding new parts.

If you can get a Haswell for the same price as the old Ivys I'd say go that route.

Otherwise I really think that you have to decide on how "future proof" you want your rig to be. Yes, the 780 is a great GPU with loads of performance that will last several years running most games on high settings at 1080p. But a 670 (that's now on sale most places) would still give you a huge upgrade from your current rig. As would an AMD equivalent GPU. You should think long and hard on that before you purchase. It's not fun sitting a year later with a beast gaming rig that you rarely use.

Current build: Antec P180, Asus P8Z68 Pro, Intel i5-2500k, Asus GTX 570 2GB, Patriot 16GB 1600MHz, Corsair HX 650W.
