If you're asking which card provides the best price to performance, its the R9 280.  If you're asking which is the best card, its the 770.  The R9 280 is not too far behind the 770 though, and it comes with more VRAM which might come in handy for future games, or if you play at high resolutions.

Sidenote:  Stay away from XFX Cards, heard nothing but bad things.

ASUS GTX 770 would be my pick.

i7-3770K @ 4.5GHz, ASRock Z77 Extreme4, G.Skill Sniper 8GB DDR3 1866 @ CL9, ASUS GTX 780, CM HAF XM, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB, WD Black 1TB x 2, EVGA SuperNOVA G2 850W, BenQ XL2420TE 24" 144Hz @ 1080p, CM Nepton 280L, Noctua Industrial IP67 2000RPM 140mm PWM Fan x 6

Don't take the 770 is not a great card. First off it's Vram crippled and second might as well get a good 970 for the same price.

7970ghz  as long the warranty is transferred to you I wouldn't worry, XFX cards have a lifetime warranty.

out of those the gtx 770 wins. if you can overclock the 7970 to be a ghz edition without sounding like a jet plane at takeoff,go with that couse it has more vram

e:go with the 7970 couse its a ghz edition.even if its xfx. unless you can get an asus or gigabyte in the same price range

don't listen to people who tell u 770 or 280 they think newer is better get the 7970 it is beast card and doesn't warm up as much as these new and cards but performs as well as 770 but since u said 7970 is cheaper go 7970

770 is a terrible card for a budget. First off it's to close in price to the far better non Vram crippled 970 and second it's a vram crippled card. Go for 280 instead.
