GPU for the ROG Swift

Go to solution Solved by Archangel1994,

There is absolutely no reason to get an AMD card with a G-SYNC monitor so that's out of the question. A single GTX 970 can handle 1440p very well if you turn down/off AA and post proc. However to fully use the 144Hz in most games you will need SLI 970 or SLI 980. Your budget will dictate which one you go for :P

I will buy the ROG Swift wqhd 144hz monitor with g-synch   (I'm more of a amd person tbh )

I also want to refresh my GPU since I only have the gtx 580.

Could you help me make a desicion ?   :)

Im thinking of something like  SLI gtx 970s OR a 980

OR should I wait for a new amd card - does it even make sense to buy a amd card with this monitor? (since g-synch is only working with nvidia cards)

GTX 970 in SLI is your best bet at playing games at 1440P, some games will simply not run on ultra at 60FPS even with such a beastly GPU solution though, keep that in mind.

NAHH ... 1080 is soo 2012 :D

no seriously - i think i would appreciate a wqhd 27" monitor much more than a 1080p one  :)

you could also get a 27'' 1080P 120hz panel and use DSR?

what about waiting for the next generation of the gtx cards ? - or will the 580 struggle with 1440p

Yeah I just got my SLI 970s a few days ago, they  max out ARMA 3 at 120FPS solid at 60% usage on each card... I was thinking of getting the ROG Swift as well, power is being wasted here.

WOW what kinda CPU do you have cause 60fps locked seems unreal ? http://www.techspot.com/review/712-arma-3-benchmarks/page5.html
