GTX 970.

I recommend the Gigabyte Gaming G1, ASUS Strix, or MSI Twin Frozr

A 970 is over that budget, especially those aftermarket cards.

GTX 970 if you can swing $330.

If not, the 780 can be had new for $300.

But I would recommend spending the extra money for the 970.

the gigabyte one should have amazing cooling if you can fit it

Idk where you guys are getting this but the gigabyte one here in Canada at NCIX is 450$.

USD $ is more valuable than the CAD $, the OP is from USA so we are using US pricing, in the US the gtx 970 goes for $330-$370

I recommend the EVGA GTX 970 (or another brand if you prefer a different one), which is likely the best performance-per-dollar in that range right now unless AMD lowers their prices again.

It's the ACX 1.0 so it won't have good thermals or be silent (plus it's not available)

Life.exe is missing

Well PC part picker always finds the cheapest price which may not be able for the OP to get in his region depending on which retailer it is and also it includes all MIR's it can find. At NCIX here (which is what I used to find the prices) the cheapest 970 is 379 with MIR.

Yeah I was going to edit my post after I read through the reviews on Newegg about it, but I then I saw EVGA was going to do an upgrade program for the ACX 1.0 people to get the 2.0 cooler as well as a BIOS update.

450 cad is still 402 usd, it shouldn't be a huge difference. Comes down to how far OP is willing to go out of budget.

and OP said if needed he can go up to $350, in which I would recommend the G1 Gaming or Strix

I was using the retailer thing as an example, in this case yeah he can get it from those retailers easily, but as you can see, PC part picker does always show the cheapest price for the product. And also you were right, the usd thing did actually make a pretty big difference.
