For gaming, editing and OS, a single 120/250 GB SSD should fill up pretty quickly. I would provide you wish a significant speed/load boost on all your programs and games.

I believe SSD+HDD is far better than SSHD as it gives you freedom to decide on what to put on the SSD and what to leave for the HDD. Moreover, SSHDs get 8-16GB of SSD only for more commonly used files while a full-sized SSD would give you a lot more space. 2 separate drives give you more security and redundancy in case of failure, while if either drive in the SSHD dies - you lose the whole drive. SSHDs take up only one slot, though, while SSD+HDD take up two slots and more space in your case.

 

I would suggest getting the two separate drives.

Depends how much space you need and what size SSD you're talking about.

Don't get the evo until they fix the speed issue on it.

They've already announced a patch and it's only for data that's months unused.

It's a non issue.

Then you won't have enough space.

you should do SSD for boot drive and heavy applications, otherwise you will be fine with HDD, if anything get 2 and do a raid 0 config.

IMO, best to get a SDD + HDD rather than a hybrid.

 

A single 120GB SSD and nothing else won't last you very long -- especially if you are recording.

Best to get a 120GB/240GB and a 500GB/1TB mechanical HDD if possible.

 

The issues regarding to slow performance on the Samsung 840 EVO is not a major issue (as stated above).

I have an 840 EVO in another system of mine, and I haven't ran into such issues with it. One of my relative's PC (that I built) also has a 250GB 840 EVO as an OS drive and I have yet to hear about any drive related issues.

Well since budget wasn't mentioned...250gb SSD for the OS and daily use applications/productivity software, maybe the occasional important game. 2tb WD Se HDD for storage/scratch disk/etc.
