No GPU build help..

hey guys,

I have a build in progress with an i7 4960X as my CPU and my GTX 970 is preordered. At the moment I have no graphic card and my question is will I be able to set my computer up with Windows and all the necessary softwares without the graphic card? Note that the 4960x doesn't have integrated graphics.

:blink: I dont understand this sentence what are you doing that would warrent this odd combination?

 

Also yes you should be able to but im not 100% sure how.

Just reread the sentence and relized what you are doing. :P

You wont see anything without the GPU.

Nope.

Nothing from your Motherboard to plug into your monitor.......so you have to use a dedicated GPU if your have no onboard.

 

$5 PCIE potato from any store will do it. (As long as its PCI-E)

Surely you got mates/someone who can lend you a card for a few hours to setup windows or ....days to keep you going, if not, can buy one.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

no igpu so you cant set anything up. you will not be able to see anything

oh i found it on the road on my way home from jail work. Lol, a relative works for Intel...got it as a gift...life's great haha. I also got 2 Intel S3700 400GB SSDs. They retail for $1000 each.

how long do you have to wait for shipment for?

as you live in Vancouver why don't you ask Linus if you can borrow a card? just ask first then pop around to his place and i am sure he will help you out.

also i have 2x Nvidia 450GTS 1 gig graphics cards just laying in a box doing nothing, (from an old build) how desperate do you need one? and do you want a cheap card until then?

Honestly I can wait for the shipment even if it takes a month lol...I don't have any desperate need at the moment...its just the excitement thats killing me lol!

Let me give you further examples of my luck ;P

The i7 4960X i have is cherry picked from their top line up....so basically I cheated in the silicon lottery....its pre tested and overclocks to 4.9GHz on a Corsair H100i at 1.32 1.4v....so life's good.

And....I can get any processor I want once every two years...waiting for the 6960X.....lets see if it justifies the price of a new motherboard :D
