4g+ gpu vram needs the new trend?

Once 4k becomes widely adopted, most likely. If you only play at 1080p on a single screen you should be fine for awhile with 2 gigs of vram

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

My 780s use a little over 3gb in BF4 @ 4k with ultra settings including 4xAA (~2.5gb without AA).

Really? I was playing ultra x4 earlier and I couldn't go past 2.5

Playing 1080p I hardly ever get near 2GB of VRAM, more VRAM is only necessary for high resolutions. As you move up more is needed obviously but it's unlikely that you will start to need more VRAM than we do now for a particular resolution.

Lol I just saw your 4k wallpaper post and started thinking "I bet he was talking about 4k"  and then I looked at my notifications and sure enough....
