Assuming OP really doesn't know where to start.

A 970 would be good, cheaper and as powerful as a 780 (depending on where you live, some places in Europe is reversed, in Australia it's as expensive)

But like the first reply said, what is the preferred budget? Also maybe purposes, too, since I'm assuming "Games only"

250 USD? are you in the USA?

 

If you are in the US you can afford this R9 280X, it's the best you can find for this price range in fact it's the only 280X that comes under the 250$ tag and it's a good one, the cooler on it is very good, i'd go with that:

is the R9 280X within budget? if so...go for it she's an awesome performer for this price...can't go wrong...and don't take the 1 year plan or anything it's not needed those XFX cards are covered by a LIFETIME WARRANTY

i don,t suggest nvidia at this price point because the cards they offer performs worse than AMD in this price range...for example the GTX 760 is slower than the R9 280 and the GTX 770 is also not as good as the R9 280X...both nvidia cards cost more.
