Which GTX 970 is the best?

hmk123

Hey Community,

i want to buy a GTX 970 for my new gaming PC and i am wondering which model of the GTX 970 probably is the best and quietest:

1.MSI GeForce GTX 970

2.Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970

3.Asus GeForce GTX 970 STRIX OC Edition

Which of these GTX 970 might be the best? Which one would you buy? or which one have you bought already?

Is there another  GTX 970 which might be better than any of the three?

For my mainboard (http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/Asus-MAXIMUS-VII-HERO-Intel-Z97-So-1150-Dual-Channel-DDR3-ATX-Retail_961378.html) probably the MSI would look best, but i think performance is better than look.

Will there be other brands releasing a GTX 970 soon or are the GTX 970s that are already released all of the GTX 970s?

I hope for some helpful answers!

Greetings

MSI and Gigabyte are beast overclockers from what I've seen (not that the others aren't), and only 1 - 2 fps in it on any game. So go for either! I don't like the ASUS fan thing where it doesn't spin till 60 degrees or something..personal preference though.

@hmk123 Hello good sir, I'm really going for the updated Windforce cooler but draws more overall power from the power supply.

Not heard much about the MSI Gaming TF5 when overclocked but the design of it & fan solution is quite a big thing.

The asus one would be quite a subdued minimalistic look on the maximus 7 hero (decent performer)

Personally I love the Strix OC from Asus, and there have been people saying that they love the Gigabyte G1 Gaming. MSI isn't a bad choice either. Probably I'll suggest you the Gigabyte one

Honestly You Cant Go Wrong With Any Of These Cards But Me Personally I Would Go With The Gigabyte G1 970 Because It Quiet, Efficient, And You Can Overclock It Really Well(And It Looks Really Cool). The Only Downside Is that It's Longer Than Most Cards So Unless You Have A Full Or Mid Tower You Wont Be Able To Fit It Well.

EVGA also has a superclocked (SC) and super-superclocked (SSC) versions with their ACX 2.0 cooler which is also a 0db cooler (fans shut off under 60 degrees) and capable of ~1500mhz OC.

Paul's hardware just reviewed this card on his youtube channel. Looks like a pretty good option considering it costs less than the MSI and Gigabyte.

It's not an easy choice to make, that's for sure. I'm still trying to decide myself...

I'd go with the Palit Jetstream design. It performs similar to the ASUS Strix in performance, overclocking and noise, but costs a lot less.
