Anyone else...?

nj4ck

I get the feeling that everytime I set out to modify/change something in my overall system setup, a task that should normally take 20 minutes winds up taking a full day to finally get done.

Here's what I mean: today I decided to finally finish replacing my POS Kingston V300 SSD with a much better SanDisk Ultra Plus I had ordered. Sounds pretty simple, right?

Here's a log of what happened.

-installed new SSD

-try to clone old SSD to new one

-clone software crashes half way through

-download different tool, manage to clone SSDs.

-clone not bootable

-reinstall old SSD

-new SSD not recognized

-fix issue by installing Intel Rapid Storage software

-clone still not bootable

-dump the idea of cloning, decide to do fresh Windows install on new SSD

-old SSD not recognized

-Install IRS again, fix issue

-storage HDD not recognized

-find possible faulty SATA cable, replace it

-everything works

-put sidepanel back on

-nothing works

-find faulty SATA connection, correct it

-RAM dimm 1 fails RAM test, PC won't boot

-take RAM dimm 1 out, reinstall it

-works

-put sidepanel back on

-doesn't work

-disconnect everything in my entire PC, entirely re-do the cable management and swap the RAM dimms.

-works.

Does this only happen to me, or is this something any of you can relate to? Because EVERY GOD DAMN TIME I touch any piece of electronic equipment in an attempt to fix it, modify it or whatever, things get 1000x more complicated than I had expected. Just putting this out there.... anyone else familiar with this "phenomenon"?

It's one of those things. Anyone who hasn't had one of those is either lying or lives in a bubble.
