1866 MHz and CL9 vs 2133 MHz and CL11

Speedbird
Go to solution Solved by DIV1D3,

Because the 2133MHz modules have a higher CAS latency there'd probably be no noticeable difference.

If you can't get the 1866MHz kit than the 2133MHz ones will do fine.

But with an APU the speed would produce more performance because the iGPU uses the system memory as VRAM.

Hi

Some time ago I posted a thread asking for some 1866 CL9 8GB low-profile memory. I was suggested the Corsair Vengeance LP, however they do not sell that version of it here. I have found a 2133 MHz CL11 Vengeance LP kit though, and I wonder which one would be better. Cost would pretty much be the same. Thanks.

Basically no difference other than clock speed.

If you use mantle, faster ram might help.

Other than that, I'd probably go with the 2133 kit just to be (a bit) more futureproof

Here you go. 2400Mhz CAS 9 :P. 1.65V operating voltage though, if that's too high for you there are CAS 10 options available at 1.6V

This memory won't go to my APU rig, it will go to my next build with a 4690K and a 770. Thanks anyway.

If its an Intel build, then the cheapest 1600Mhz will be plenty, no need to go over.

Afterall, their memory controller is only rated for up to 1600Mhz anyway.
