I voted on those, but the selections in most categories were pretty mediocre. I think I ended up voting for Palmer Luckey because all the other options for gaming personality were kinda meh.

The only people that deserve to be on this list are.. Actually, only Palmer Luckey. Dean Hall can be justified but I don't think he's really done much in 2014. If it was a 2013 list, then sure. Ian is a cool guy but I don't think he belongs on this list.

I didn't expect much, but I sure didn't expect this...

 

You know what's almost as bad? This is the "greatest innovation of the year" category. Where is steam game stream? Valve has come up with better things this year than half of the stuff on this list!

Pew Die Pie I can understand. For mainstream media, he's basically the biggest gaming youtuber. Anita Sarkeesian however.....

PewDiePie: Incredibly popular, of course, but I highly doubt that he deserves to be nominated for this kind of thing.

 

I have a way bigger problem with those two, to be honest. Also, GabeN is not going to be on this list for obvious reasons: Valve hasn't done a whole lot in the last few years, steam has become a dumping ground for shitty games, steam customer support is still horrible, they refuse to get rid of clearly broken games, they encourage anti-consumer business models, etc. etc.

It would cost hundreds of billions to end hunger- he also lives in a socialist country that supposed to do that itself-, if you dont watch him than his screaming wont hurt you, and he donates millions a year to charity- and he also donated 10000euros to als research instead of doing the challenge. I dont see why you are complaining, the guy does some pretty decent stuff.

Steam is still the best place to get games and they still are the best in the industry.

 

No, and no. They're the biggest, not the best. You still have to put up with DRM (with places like GOG or the humble store you can get games DRM free and actually own them), you can get better deals regularly on other sites and services, their customer support is horrible, they lack many features (Origin lets you play a game for 24 hours after you first started it up and then get a full refund if you didn't like it), they encourage early access and preordering as well. They're actually pretty horrible, the only reason why they're still so popular is the laziness of many people (including me half of the time).
