Hello everyone,

I think I'll be finally able to afford a computer, the wait is over (yah!).

I don't know which one to go: ATX or mATX.

At first I would like to have a mATX since I don't much space in my room.

The problem is that where I live gets really hot on normal days and even hotter on summer. I've read on several forums that a mATX build tends to get hotter due to its lack of space for ventilation. That's why I was considering an ATX build.

I did 2 builds on pcpartpiker and I need an opinion on which one to go with.

The amount of heat will stay the same, just it may be a bit hotter inside the case. If you had better ventilation, all you're doing is getting the heat into the room faster

But one thing to consider is that the components will be more spread out on an ATX motherboard, and that if components overheat, generally what will happen is that the PC will shut down

That's my 'fear'. My friend have an mATX computer and I think it gets so hot it shut down everytime.

My thoughts are on the mATX build, but I don't know. ^^

Thanks for the answer.

matx. there are no heating problems with the 350D.

get a cheaper motherboard it does the same thing. a 550W psu is more than enough

I know the motherboard is a bit overkill, but I really like it so it's not a problem for me. ^^

As for the psu, I might buy another graphics card in the future so, I think I'll stick with this one.

Thanks!!

Haha. Yeah, I really like it too, that's I chose it, the only problem is the price. Hehe

It really shouldn't overheat unless you have no airflow at all, or close to it

(sorry for bad English and for the layout, I'm on my smartphone :x)

first off CONGRATULATIONS on you dream coming true

It doesn't matter  if it's ATX or mATX, it depends on how well the system's air flow is, I run 3 diffrent systems in my home 2 of them are mATXand they run pretty coolin a N200 and a Fractal Design Arc Mini R2.

just observe the main 3 items that releases heat (CPU,RAM and GPU) as long your case is well ventalated and cooled properly it should be fine.

unless you're custom watercooled here are some suggestions to keep the system cooled:

RAM Cooler (I noticed my overclocked ram kicks out quite abit of heat so I purchased a ram cooler to move the heat)

Good cooling fans (Silverstone AP121 Air Penetrator 12cm Fan) unless you're watercooling your GPU you're gonna need good case fans to puse air around the system to force out the heat from your GPUs, and believe me running SLI and overclocking your GPU will kick out plenty of heat.

CPU Cooler try to get a H100i if you're on a budget at least get a Cooler Master Master Hyper 212 or a Dark rock 3

have fun btw nice builds

@Daniel91

Ok. So, I'll just try to get good ventilation in the case, with intakes and outtakes well positioned, I think I'll be fine.

Thank you so much for the help bro.

@JuTheBarbarian

I see. Yeah, regarding the GPU I think it'll be fine with the heat.

Thanks.

@JoaoPRSousa

Yes. They're not in the list, but I'll be able to get them I think.

-

I think I'll stay with the mATX. Does someone have experience with the 350D?

Thanks for answers folks.

I used to use  the 350D, I found the metal too soft and flexable. I'd recomend you the Fractal Design Arc Mini R2,

solid build , well ventilated,sexy tinted window and good for water cooling and it's a pretty modular to work in
