From quickly reading some things on the internet about that board, it's not a really good one.

That being said, was that heatsink getting as hot in the past, or did it just start getting hot now?

I recently replaced my motherboard with this one, so it's been like that ever since I noticed that. I don't know exactly how hot it is.

Is this bad or is there nothing to worry about ?

I have been installing a few cheaper (sub $150) boards in customer builds, and have noticed the same things time to time...

Throw a fan on it/near it, if you don't have anywhere to mount it, use cable ties. If you have nowhere to plug it into the mobo, use an adapter.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Well, generally motherboard heatsinks do get quite hot.

Maybe you could mount a fan to the side panel if there are mounting holes on the panel, and have it as an intake, to bring fresh air to your motherboard and other components..

You can always attach a 40mm fan if you want but the northbridge is designed to run 90C 24/7. If the heatsink is warm that means it's doing its job.
