Hey guys, I brought a GTX 980, and I was going to return it because i dont think my motherboard supports PIC-e 3.0, I have a P6P67 Deluxe motherboard. ( http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8P67_DELUXE/ ) It says it does. Is the Rev 3.0 verison only for people who buy it now? Or do i need to update my Bios?

Any help would be very great =D

You can still use the card if it's a gen 2 slot.

Yes my motherboard does have Gen 2 slot, Im only using one GTX 980. Alot of people have been saying differently. Just want to get a for sure answer.

PCIe 2.0 and 3.0 are compatible so you'll have no problems.

Thank you for a simple answer :)

The Rev3.0 B3 is referring to the version of the motherboard. If we go back in time....Intel Goofed up big time on the LGA 1155 socket to the point boards had to be recalled.

Because of this, a B3 revision was released once the issues were resolved.

You can't even buy brand-new P67 / Z68 / 6 series boards now (well if you look around, maybe) as they've been long discontinued...and replaced by it's newer form. Heck, even 7 series has been phased out...and made room for the 8 and 9 series of boards.

To have PCI-E 3.0, both the motherboard AND CPU needs to support it / have the feature built-in.

You can use a PCI-E 3.0 graphics card in a PCI-E 2.0 slot -- as many have mentioned, they are backwards compatible. Basically call single-GPU solutions (non single-GPU as in GTX Titan Z, or R9-295X) will not suffer any performance loss when being used in a PCI-E 2.0 X16 slot.
