Hey there,

I'm having a bit of an issue here, I've just replaced the thermal compound hoping that it would fix the issue with my temperatures on the cpu, but it didn't.

Is there any way I could tweak the fan speed? It's running at 500RPM while my CPU is over 80°C.

It's a Coolermaster X Dream i117.

just go into the bios and change the fan performance setting

Personal Build Project "Rained-On"

helped building up the CPU Overclocking Database and GPU Overclocking Database, check them out ;)

Try downloading a free 30 day trial of argus monitor and change fan speeds with that.

It works better than speed fan for me...

Download and install this. http://www.argotronic.com/en/

After installing and running it, go to the main board tab and select fan control, change the list box for the cpu fan to manual. Then there will be a slider to adjust the fan speed.

Are you sure the fan is connected to a CPU fan header and not a chassis fan header? These headers may be controlled by different temperature sensors.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

Be sure the cpu cooler is clamed down securely on all four corners, then in the bios you should have some fan control options u can set, but if u plug your fan right into a molex connector, your fan will run at top speed constantly.  IF this is still an issue with fan at max speeds, you may want to get a higher CFM fan, and or better cooler.  Also be sure your case has good airflow.  If you take the lid off your computer, and the temps go to normal, your case needs better airflow.  To see if your cpu is clamped down correctly, check the cores.  If one core is spiking at 80C and the others are normal, one corner of your cpu cooler isn't clamped down.
