Meet Carrie

frostentangle

So it was time for me to replace my 5+ year old rig and I asked the help of our friends here. With their help and the stock availability restrictions I was able to come up with the final build specs below:

Cpu: Core i7-4790k
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Hero
Ram: Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600 CAS 9 16GB
Ssd: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD
Hdd: 2TB Seagate Barracuda's
Gpu: Asus gtx770 2gb ddr5 direct cu11 oc
Psu: Seasonic X750 80+ GOLD Full Modular
Case: CM 690 III
Cooling: Noctua NH-D14
OS: WINDOWS 8.1 64BIT SL

Others:
- Corsair SP fans X5
- NZXT fan controller
- NZXT Sleeves

I asked the shop (Strategic Technologies) to assemble Carrie as I don't have the time to do it myself. They were reliable and fast, and I was happy for the FREEBIES that I got from them (PSU Shroud and Noctua Cover).

Sorry for the cam photos. I will upload a more detailed photo if I have the gadgets and time.

Guys and gals, meet Carrie...

I think it may be better to have white LED to appreciate the red accents of the rig IMHO.  ;)

Change the orientation of your CPU cooler, you're staving it.

Too much REEEEDDD! And RROOOOOGGG! I think it is a bit too much in your face shade of red. But it is a matter of taste.

Because Carrie loves red, lots of blood in the movie Carrie. LOL.

That nh-d14 though.. Big ass thing, haha. Nice specs!

Its definitely HUGE, but it performed well. Idle temp for 4790k is at 35degC.

Hmmmmm. Great idea! will do that.

Really? I thought I should orient the fans upward to blow the hot air up and out.

I measured the clearance though, if the Noctua is oriented horizontally it will hit the board.

2 fans front = IN
2 fans top = OUT
1 fan rear = OUT

The same thing can be done with the rear fan, that being said the cooler right now is being staved and what air it is able to pull through is being directly heated buy the GPU. Is it the fan on the outside of the cooler that is hitting the board or is it the cooler itself?

Its the cooler itself. Sorry for the double post. I have 35C at idle CPU so Im not sure if it is really starved. I would need some heavy runs to confirm though.
