I give up trying to google this... either find bright color ones, or the musical instrument keyboard.

Does anyone know of a high-ish quality usb keyboard for a 5 year old? Typical keyboards are just too large, I'd like for my son to learn typing as he is getting to the point he can read so I figure I may as well teach him how to type too. That and he really wants to play Minecraft on his PC rather than his tablet... I rebound a keyboard so it somewhat works for him, but he just doesn't have enough length in his fingers to do it properly.

I'd love to find a shrunk version of a 10 keyless mechanical keyboard, but I'm getting pretty picky there. Basically the physical size of a Poker II but with with additional keys of a normal 10 keyless. It doesn't need to be mechanical, that is just what I'm envisioning.

I have a couple small bluetooth keyboards for tablets I loaned to a friend that he is bringing back the next time he is in state so I can have my son try them out, but I'd love to find something with a little more travel in the keys.

I'm assuming it just plain doesn't exist, but may as well ask... this forum has surprised me a few times what you guys are able to find.  ^_^

@Scheer I believe Ducky has a very mini mechanical keyboard they've just recently released, take a look at that.

mechanical keyboards are rarely shunk below the standard key size because there is almost no demand for it.

For kids? Yes.

High quality? Not really.

Available in your area? Maybe not.

Try looking in eBay... This distributor gets them wholesale from China or Taiwan then rebrands them...

Ignore my post... I thought you were looking for a large-font keyboard for kids...

You might want to take note of removable keycaps since the kid might be able to pull them off...

K65?

Duckyshine.

Edit: ninja'd :(

Those are all normal sized keycaps, they just remove a bunch of keys to make it smaller in size for the Ducky mini. He has to move his entire hand to hit keys, not just fingers.

I'm looking for one with smaller keys without sacrificing the layout (bunched up arrow keys, short shift and enters, missing caps lock, etc). I want him to learn on a proper keyboard layout.

It doesn't have to be mechanical, I really doubt a shrunk mechanical keyboard exists.

This is the best one I have found so far, it would be perfect if it had a normal layout on the right hand side for the arrow keys: http://usb.brando.com/usb-slim-keyboard-w9716-_p01189c0034d015.html

Side note, found this while browsing... pretty sweet, eh? http://usb.brando.com/usb-full-bamboo-wireless-keyboard-with-mouse_p02631c0034d015.html

@Scheer pretty nice, I would've next suggested one of those keypads that use bluetooth to sync with your smartphones which is quite a fair bit smaller but loses out on the functionality.

Yeah I have two of them that will hopefully be returned to me within the next few weeks to try out, but they are both chicklet keys and the layout is a bit odd due to no PC specific keys (Windows key, control, alt, etc.)
