Just checked on the Internet and it's said to be an infected. Exe

YAY I FIXED IT! THANK YOU GUYS! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

AVG is fine, if you have installed that.

Other good scanner is AVast anti virus Free.

also i recommend 2 other scanners to use.

- Malwarebytes anti malware

- Spybot search and destroy.

i never heard about trolltech either as a MS service

No one, I was just using it as an example.

Hey guys i just reformatted my drive and erased everything (T.T) it seemed to solve the problem! :D Welp time to let my computer run for 30 hours downloading all the games back xD

It doesn't relate at all to the problem OP encountered though.

i would get

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download

to protect your computer from malicious software , plus be sure not to download any cracks/gens of the internet if you want to stay safe

Ah there you go.

first do some scans like i said. 40% at idle, sounds susspicious.

At idle a cpu needs to be kinda zero.

Also check your background running processes.

A CPU can idle easily at 40% if it's downclocked. Utilization is relative. 50% of a CPU at 1GHz is less than 15% of it at 3.5GHz, for example. Gotta know what speeds he's idling at first.

Yes, visiting a website can screw the hell out of your PC. You don't even know. I personally suggest some basic AV protection (that isn't AVG) in the future. Something to just run 24/7 that's got a good enough automatic detection rate. Avira, MSE, Avast!, would probably all work fine. When you really wanna do a scan, Malwarebytes for the deepest scan possible is your best bet.

And if things get REAL bad... download a trial of Bitdefender. Whatever the latest version is. You run the deepest scan with that and it WILL find just about everything on your PC even if it has to rip it out of system 32 folders. The trial will work for 30 days, but I suggest only installing it for the one scan... the software got extremely invasive and wouldn't even release its grip on your PC and internet traffic if manually disabled. But it's just about the most powerful scanner out there. Uninstall when done; DO NOT RUN IT 24/7.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

I never saw a cpu idleing at 40% ussage, no matter on which speed it runs.

idleing means allmost zero cpu ussage.

Wenn your system is idleing, then there is allmost no activity cpu wise.

Wenn you cpu is idleing at 40% then this means, somethings is working in the background.

This can be windows updates, or any other software updates.

But also mallware / spyware or a Trojan, which is hogging your cpu usage.

AVG is not realy trash, its realy good, but its just how you configure it.

I have to say that i use Avira aswell, just because it was easier to setup for me.

Avast is also a good free virus scanner

A website that contains allot of adware and such, can definitely fuck your system up.

Actually no, AVG's virus database sucks. It will miss things (no matter how you set it up) that others will pick up. I may be a little out of data with my antivirus testing (I used to download a bunch of them on my PC, go to known virus-infecting sites, download known viruses, etc and see which AVs lit up the warning bells and which did not, etc etc) but if AVG suddenly made a comeback as an amazing free AV, it would not be hard to find that evidence. And I haven't found that evidence anywhere.

As for the idling, it depends on how low the CPU goes. You are right, nothing going on on the system is indeed supposed to be a near-0% state. But if his CPU is at like 0.5GHz and he has chrome open etc, it might be using a bit more than 0%. It still was a bit high, but I just wanted to say that high usage + low clock speed is misleading.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
