But my cpu is an i5 4440! (I only recently got this problem and i had no issues with my games till this afternoon)

Are there any processes running in the background that use your CPU?  Monitor task manager during gameplay to see how much of the load is from BF4.  If all the load is from BF4 then your CPU is limiting your GPU.

Well for you vcore to drop while you play, or doing extensive gpu test it'll Def drop performance to your game. Maybe it's set to adaptive mode or not getting enough power. You said you didn't overclock right? Sometimes things like that has happened to me and I had to restart the pc and lower gpu core clock.

So i'll have to underclock my gpu to play? D: are there any explanations why this suddenly happened D:

IT could be the CPU but it could be lack of cooling throttling back the Gfx.

I went ahead and unparked all my CPU cores... So i dont think my CPU is the issue now D:

my CPU is cooled by an hyper 212x... the temperature never goes above 50 degrees C (its 30 degrees ambient mind you :P)

Well it also could be psu, Okay it in amds control panel or catalyst control center and navigate to your 3d settings or video graphic settings. There should be an option to select power power management and select it as : performance ( sorry i don't have amd)

Also you may want to go to Windows power plan in control panel and select performance profile as well.

My gpu usage now dips from 100 to like 39 then back up to 100... i'm really starting to think its the PSU. There is a value on the afterburner that says pagefile and it seems to be at MAX when i am underload.. (the line even turns yellow) what is that?

(and underclocking made the stuttering even worse)

Try playing with the downclock of gpu core and see if it works well. Btw restart your pc first.

Restarted 3 times already D:

like 87-100% on core 00 and 80 plus on all other cores

Still sounding like your CPU is bottlenecking your GPU with its utilisation being that high.

Uh nvm its near 100 across all cores

use msi afterburner and monitor you gpu load during gaming.

If your gpu load is bouncing up and down allot, then you are "probably" bottlenecked somewhere.

Can you make a screen of msi afterburner loads?

Also scan your pc, for adware, spyware and virusses.

Maybe some mallisious software is hogging your cpu ussage.

ok guys basically my GPU usage dips from 100 to 39% frequently while my CPU cores are near 100% all the time (i5 4440) I have 12 GB of ram (so it should be sufficent) but i see a thing called pagefile that is pretty much at a scary value (10135).

I only had this problem since this afternoon and experienced nothing but perfect gameplay for the past week while i am playing my games. (ever since i got my r9 290x last week)

uhm, if you are having that high usage, then you will for sure be bottlenecking the GPU. no doubt. try to overclock your cpu to give some headroom for the gpu power draw.

its a locked CPU....

Hmmm come to think of it my CPU load is like 40% while idleing.....

Ah there you go.

first do some scans like i said. 40% at idle, sounds susspicious.

At idle a cpu needs to be kinda zero.

Also check your background running processes.

is the AVG scan enough or do i need a more powerful tool?

Won't be anything to do with the Pagefile, you have enough RAM.

AVG is fine, if you have installed that.

Other good scanner is AVast anti virus Free.

also i recommend 2 other scanners to use.

- Malwarebytes anti malware

- Spybot search and destroy.

Oh sorry thought u had unlocked cpu. well okay, get CCleaner, avg scan virus could do but also do some registry cleaners. and monitor on task manager what task is utilizing that high cpu usage.

never heard of that before. it might be, some trojan infiltrates and mess up with your computer resources. the name itself is fishy lol.

when you clean all that up, make sure to have some strong spyware and protection ready.

But i dont really wanna remove it just incase it is a legit program...
