Am3+ for FX series. and 7850k is a waste of money in general.

Athlon 750k/760k is a better option for matx

Remember, that new Athlon X4 860K is coming out soon. It's an A10 7850K without the iGPU. Works on mITX and mATX motherboards too.

It's going to be about $90 on launch.

It's worth noting that there aren't really any good matx boards for the AM3 socket.

You'll likely see better performance with the 8350 depending on the graphics card used.

I'd go with an ATX board, and just find a small case.

You would want to avoid matx motherboards for fx cpu's, no VRM heatsinks, Power phase is 3+1 or 4+1, not good for overclocking

Would be better to get a 750k or 760k instead for a matx mobo, the 760k is the 7850k without the gpu

That list doesn't include the 78LMT R5.0 which is pretty much the 4.1, still heatsinked but black with 125W TDP support.

It's got pretty much all the basic features you need and no extra things that most people don't use.

The 760K is an A10 5800K without the GPU. AMD's numbering system can get confusing sometimes.

I would advise the OP to get the 860K, it uses Steamroller cores.

Well basicly the FX8350 is better.

The only problem is, that here are no decent enough M-atx boards, to drive a FX 8 core cpu.

If you wanne go with AMD, and you want a FX8350 cpu, then unfortunatly, you are a bit stuck on ATX then.

Other then that you have a Athlon 760K which is capable to play most games very well with a midrange gpu.

But wenn things are becomming cpu + gpu bound, then those Athlons will probably fall behind very quickly. (with higherend gpu´s)

Still this offcourse does not mean that things are becomming unplayable.

Just out of interest, why wouldn't you buy Intel?

But FX6300 + GA78LMT-USB3 Rev5 is OK. I wouldn't put an 8 core on it.

Price but if I could find it for a good deal what would I get if I were to go that route.

Please quote people so they know who you're replying to and what you're answering :)

You can get an i3 4150 (which outperforms the 7850k and often the 8350 in the right games, or performs the same in the rest) and a H81 board for less than you'd pay for a 7850k and fx8350/board.

Hmm... That'll very much depend on what games you play I think. Single threaded ones, definitely. Not sure on your price though. There are some Really cheap fm2 boards out there.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

A10 7850K isn't cheap though.

You're right actually. I love AMD as much as the next guy but I really thought the i3 was more expensive than it actually is apparently. Oh well. I'll still have HSA eventually. Maybe. Anyway, it doesn't try to compete with the i3. The i3 will deliver best results with a discrete card while the apu is best served as is. If you want the performance of a discrete card you should not be buying an apu.
