I'm looking forward to building a new (gaming) pc and I also need a new monitor. The thing is that I don't know what size would fit better. I have to say that I've spent 7 years on a 15.6 inch laptop screen (the on from which I type right now). I've heard all kind of people saying that a 21.5 monitor is too small, is a monitor for ants, is a smartphone display (lol on this one) and so on... Now, I have to choose between a 21.5 BenQ (VW2245Z is the model) and another BenQ of 24 inch (the GL2450). Now, even if the second one is bigger the design is somehow better on the 21.5 inch one which is slimmer and has a better looking stand. Other than that the specifications are pretty much the same. Of course, the 24 inch one has bigger brightness (of 250 compared to 200 on the 21.5 one) but that is to be expected on bigger screen. Now, the drawback on the 24 inch one is that I have to cut from other things in order to buy it (cause it's more expensive). I have to get seasonic 430 instead of 530, a worse mobo (MSI z97 pc mate instead of ASUS z97-k) and a worse case (nzxt 210 instead of 210 elite). So... is all this worth it ? Most probably I won't change the monitor for at least 2 years so I am wondering if 21.5 will be enough. In my opinion It will be enough 'cause as I've said above I'm used to much smaller screens and I'll stay pretty close it it (something like 40-50 cm) but some say that it will not.

24" is much better than 21.5", 21.5 really is too small...

I went from a 21.5" to 24", and it's a LOT better, especially for RTS/MMORPG games. If you have money issued then just wait another couple weeks until can get it all.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

24 is definitely more immersive, 21.5 would be sharper if both 1080p though

So the picture on 24 will somehow be worse ?

That is subjective.

The 24 will have a lower pixel per inch though.

It's all about the distance you usually sit away from your monitor, I have a 23 inch and it's perfect for 50cm - 1m distance, a 24 inch seems just too big because you can see the pixels and can't focus on a large portion of the screen at once if you have it less than 1m (3.2 feet) away. A 21.5 inch will perform well if you will have it sit less than 50cm away from your face.

However, if you frequently watch movies / tv shows and sit somewhere across the room to do so i would suggest getting a 24 inch one.
