more fps in minecraft servers?

in some minecraft servers i get low fps like 30s (specs in sig) and i feel thats quite low, is there a wasy i can achive more?

mine more, once all the blocks are gone it will run REALLY fast

Sometimes the server has too many people on or just can't handle what's happening. Or you're having a internet connection issue connecting to that server.

try installing optifine, and see what happens. Unless you have that already.

You could try to check what is causing the lags.

Open Task Manager (CPU/RAM usage) and a tool to check/log GPU usage and then go play minecraft.

When lags occur tab out and check both tools. If one of them is at around 100% you see whats holding your performance back.

Otherwise it might be your internet connection.

If its a problem on the server side everyone else (including your friend) should experience these lags too.

What kind of mods to you have in addition to Optifine? Which optifine version do you use? Do you play every time with the same version or do you have different versions with different mods? If you have only one you could try reset the options in optifine and use (most of the) default settings for a while to see how it goes. There are some settings zhat really mess with fps^^

Performance problem could may be caused by a mod you use. Do you have your FPS limited with Optifine? I had once a thermal problem because without limiting the fps in optifine it just used all my ressources to get more fps than i needed - until the point my notebook got to hot^^

its a bit on singleplayer but not as much but my mate gets better fps with worse hardware on the same servers

If you don't mind, could you be a bit more specific? Imho what matters most in this case, besides the (wlan?) internet connection, is which processor he uses and which OS.

And can you define better fps? More like 5-15 or 15-30 more?

OK HE HAS WIRELESS I HAVE CABLE, HE HAS 4300 I HAVE 8320, BOTH 8.1 AND ITS ABOUT 30FPS (sorry for caps)

Thats strange and i have no idea, sorry. I tried manny times to get Minecraft running better - i know the frustration

Maybe its because he has more performance on fewer cores instead of many cores - but the difference is only about 2x300Mhz i don't think that this could be the cause.
