I'm wondering how big of a difference is between an i5 and an i7 for streaming to Twitch.

Let's say that we have a download speed of 1gb/s and upload of 1gb/s, so internet bandwidth is not bottlenecking any streaming performance.

The i5 is a 3570K and the i7 is a 3770K.

The GPU (if it matters) is a GTX 780.

How much FPS difference would it be if the streamer plays BF4 @ 1080p?

Would there be any other performance decreases?

I'm asking this because I know a streamer that has a 3570K and his friend has a 3770K and both have a GTX 780. They both play the same game and there is no noticeable difference.

But that's only because the game has a frame rate cap of 60 FPS, but if there was no cap, what would the difference be?

Depends on the game it can be as much as 35%.

For streaming the i7 would be better, in normal gameplay it doesn't make a huge difference.

To get an accurate numerical answer, ask said friends to disable v-sync (thus allowing more than 60FPS) and for them to type in "perfoverlay.drawfps 1" in the command console (press the ~ above the tab key to open - my iPhone doesn't have the correct symbol that I can find). Ask them to see what their numbers are to compare on the same level/etc. You can run higher than 60fps on BF4.

I do not know the exact number difference between i5/i7, but I do not find any noticeable difference between streaming and non-streaming performance on my i5-4670k @ 4.4GHz while streaming BF4. This said, I use DXTory to capture the video, then stream it through OBS at 720p/30fps. I haven't been able to try it at 1080p yet as I'm away from my rig/just got my internet upgraded before I left.

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!
