I am looking to buy a 750 Ti, the only question is which 'box' to pick. What I mean by that is, should I buy from Zotac, MSI, EVGA, etc. Also, is the main reason to buy this is that it won't bottleneck my system too much, and it requires no 6pin or 8pin connector. If you guys know of a mid range card that only requires a 6pin connector OR LESS, I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

EVGA

But afaik the r9 270x only needs a single 6pin and is faster than the 750ti.

Get a better GPU you CPU is decent and can handle a better GPU than a shit teir 750ti. Your PSU has 336watts on the +12V rail so you can run pretty well any GPU you want.

My PSU only has one 6pin PCI connector though... as well as I like Nvidia's PhysX, and other features. I do like the optimization button for both AMD and Nvidia, and I trust Nvidia seeing as I have a gt 640 at the moment. Another question would be if the ATI CrossfireX on my current mobo works with current AMD Crossfire or not. What do you suggest?

Do you still even play any games that have hardware Physx ? You can use the supplied Molex to 6pin power adapter that will come with your new graphics card so don't worry about that. If your board is CFX ready then it will work just make sure both PCI E lanes are running at the same speed of at lease 8x/8x 16x/4x sucks though.

The main game would be Borderlands, I'm planning on getting the Pre-Sequel and playing the crap out of it. I play Bordlands 2 currently. Those are the main games. If you think it wouldn't make big enough of a difference, then I guess that means I have to just decide something. Some suggestions that are not too expensive, won't bottleneck me, and have some good benefits would be nice.

If your PSU has one 6 pin connector then get the 270. 750 Ti's only real advantage is power consumption

It's just some goo and extra particle effects no big deal and it costs you frame rates so not worth it IMO.

Physx is amazing in the games that really utilize it. It will give you that extra level of detail that really sets it apart from GPUs that don't support it. But, it comes at a cost which doesn't seem to fit your price point.

Nvidia or AMD will make a card, in this case a 750 Ti, meaning they'll make a reference PCB and cooler. Board partners will then either make a custom PCB and slap their cooler on it, or take the reference PCB and slap a custom cooler on it, in EVGA's case, the ACX cooler on their cards, or they'll take a reference card design and slap their stickers on it. Personally I prefer to run reference coolers in my system, but that doesn't make them OEM cards. OEM cards are reference card designs, but made by Nvidia or AMD themselves, and those are typically hard to find.

I see, I've never really seen OEM cards for sale, where would you get one from?

I got a GTX 480 enginerring sample off of craigslist, @tmcclelland455 has it now. Here's a link to a 5970 that is an OEM card on Newegg

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814105001

This is an OEM GTX 580 on Ebay.

I had a link to an OEM R9 280X a while ago, but I can't seem to find it.

Something interesting on newegg, that I'm noticing now, is that, that R9 280X that I had a link to, was only available in a combo, the graphics card, and a power supply. I found a link to an OEM 750 ti, but it is the same way, the price is higher than it should be, and its a combo with a power supply.

So, they are out there, but you just have to dig a bit.

SO SHINY AND PERTY AND EVENTUALLY HOT.

Yes, don't take it out of a system after its been folding all night right after you turn off the system. Doing that causes you to invent some new swear words and pain in the finger tips.

lol Not that you did that or anything. ;)
