im still using 7 but i will upgrade to 8.1 when i get the chance.

What should I get I don't know what to get because people say they both are crap?

8.1 because it supports the latest version of DirectX

8.1, I am completely off 7 and loving 8.1 as much as I did 7.

QFT except I actually like 8.1 more than 7. 

Use Classic Shell.
