Metro Redux Performance and Graphics

I played a bit of the original Metro Last Light and it was great, but I just got the Redux version and whoa. The improved lighting makes a HUGE difference. The new animations are very realistic and immersive. The tessellation and ssa make it look AMAZING. I do believe it performs better too. I was able to get a much higher fidelity image with what felt like higher and more constant frame rates. This game looked great, now it looks fantastic. If you haven't already, you should pick it up.

I can't justify it seeing how I have paid $15 in total for both games and they want $50 for the two now redone.

The redux versions perform a lot worse for me compared to the original versions. Maybe it's because my 2xHD6950's are crap at tessellation, but I can barely get anything above 20FPS compared to the original games that never dropped below 40.

I had to drop the max tessellation level to x8 on the Catalyst Control Centre for me to be able to play them.

actually i pirated the redux version to see the differences and tbh it doesnt worth extra 15$ yes there are some changes but most of the textures and effects are same and i dont think story has changed either...

Your forgetting its bundled with all of the DLC also.

It's definitely worth it. For all the reasons stated above.

i bought metro 2033 and metro last light with all dlcs for 15$ lol.

Consider it as just buying the DLC and getting the improvements as a bonus then.

still can't I wouldn't pay $50 for dlc in this era. Maybe Ill pick up 2033 redux for 50% off one day but not metro.

Yes, but you're running a GTX 780. I, on the other hand, am stuck with pair of ghetto HD6950's.

I wonder if redux has better optimization. On my rig I completed Last Light with these settings to keep 60 fps, however on some moments it still had fps drops to 50-40.

Is the preformance better? I remember getting constant frame drops at some points with my GTX 780 and i5 3570k so i'm holding off until I know they fixed preformance issues.

Yes I believe so. I was experiencing dips into the 20s with lower settings than I'm running now. I'll test later tonight.

Considering they made Last Light's original engine on about £30 worth of budget in a studio that didn't have power for half the production time, it'd be hard not to create a much better engine if that's all that's in your remit.

If you liked Metro 2033 more than Metro Last Light, I would recommend getting the Redux for 2033, it is a much better way to portray such an amazing game
