I am kinda fed up with sound quality disparity between my gnex and my computer

So I was looking into DAP but I can't search much other than people's suggestion on many high phone's dac which apparently is good

But I will not be getting whole new phone. (I like my Gnex)

So it kind of came down to Fiio X3 or X5

I am more toward X3 with my budget in my mind but willing to throw for X5 if the difference in money is justifed!

I am sleeping now since school starts tomorrow!

They Syba DAC would be a good solution if you have to spend.

Ermm...he's looking for a DAP (digital audio player), something like sansa :)

OP: I think the main differences between the two would be the dual CPU, and dual TF slots.

- Dual CPU should work better when playing 'heavy' files, like DSDs, and support 64bits (dunno how 64bit will differ from say 24bit though)

- Dual TF slots meaning bigger max storage space, up to 256gb

- And tbh, X5 looks better than the X3 anyway :)

But, it's up to you if those points above justifies the price difference or not....

Don't listen to these guys talking about the Sansa Clip, yes its really good for the money, but honestly, without a proper amp on its own its very disappointing IMHO. The X3 would do you much better. Or if you want to save the X1 will be launching really soon and some review samples have been shipped out and a couple reviews are out and the general consensus is really positive. I have the X3 and couldn't be happier, The X5 is really only if you want a really serious portable solution, as its pretty big compared to the X1 and X3.

I had three sansa clip and everyone of them died because of the build quality. Yes they have good sound but other than that I feel the UI,battery life, storage, and build suffer.

The FiiO X3 however is better in all respects.

Eh, mentioned Sansa only as a reference, that what the OP is asking is a DAP, like sansa, not a DAC.

Personally, I'm not using any DAP. My music player on the go would be my Ipad, which hardly can be categorized as 'portable'. I bring my Ipad everywhere in my bag, so anytime I want to hear music on the go, I'd just plug my IEM to the Ipad, which is still in my bag....

I had a Walkman until it died. That only took a few months though. Also the "aluminum" paint cracked and chipped off fairly quickly.

I could've sworn the in-store unit had real aluminum...

I'm currently using this one: http://www.sony.com.ph/product/nwz-b173f/sku/nwz-b173f_bce

Nah it was an older version of these:

I had a cheap sony flip phone that fell apart in the same way, so I'm not too privy on their devices.

Ah... The one in the first link I posted earlier has some heft to it... It also kept the DSP from the one that I have...

I also have this Creative MuVo (the nomad one) which is still alive but it's a headphone killer...

Best thing about it is that none of the pickpockets take interest in it...
