so I am planning a new build later this Christmas hopefully and i am wonder 1) if the gtx 800 or 900 series gpus will be out and secondly should I buy the new gpu or a 780???

2) Get the best that's in your budget when the time comes around. Be it a 780, 880, R9 290x, whatever.

Well we have no idea but I'm expecting the best deal at the time will be to take advantage of the price drops of the GTX 700 series and to get a higher end 700 series card.

Get the best thing you can afford. If it ends up being a 980 then great. If it ends up being a 780 (ti?) for dirt cheap, also great.

There is no official word from NVIDIA yet so just be patient man!
