I'm gonna say yes, or install another near stock experience ROM. I am running an AOSP rom with a few tweaks on my S4-VZW LTE (SCH-i545) and it's absolutely fantastic. install a custom rom then reduce your animation scales to .5x in developer options and it feels like butter.

are there any valid reasons other than loosing the IR blaster to NOT installing cyanogenmod?

I don't know you tell me.

depends, some of the time it requires libraries that were in the original stock OS's kernel that aren't integrated into AOSP.

I don't really use the remote app anyways so its okay if i lose it. So if i want to install it should i use the official installer or do it manually.

I am running an old version of CM 11 and have tried all of the IR apps they all seem to work not as well as the Samsung one though.

Yes. Install CM or just about whatever custom ROM. Anything's better than TouchWiz.

My personal favorite ROM is SlimKat though.

Whats good about SlimKat

Well, for my phone, it just works. I have issues with most other custom ROMs not working 100%, but Slim works 100%. And it has the least amount of freezes/random reboots that I've experienced from a custom ROM.

I'll keep that in mind whenever i feel like trying a new custom ROM or if Cyanogenmod has issues
