Downgrading Windows 8.1 to 7 problems.

Recently I've started installing Windows 7, and it'll say running setup, but the monitor will turn off. The keyboard and mouse also turn off at the same time as the monitor. If i launch Windows 8 and I get into the desktop, the computer will be just fine and the monitor, keyboard and mouse will not turn off.

 

Any suggestions as to what I should do? I'm trying to reformat my pc, but these shutoffs are stopping me from doing so. Also I've made sure that all my drivers are up to date.

Sounds dumb, but install Linux then try to install Windows.

I was thinking of doing this, and now I will. Will repost on this thread whether installing linux then windows helped solve the problem.

Just be sure when you do it that when you go to install Windows again (assuming this works) to go into the boot device selector, since Linux-based OSes seem to ignore other bootable media.

After I tried to install linux on my computer, it said that I had to restart the computer for the changes to take place. So it restarted my computer, and when it booted it was still in windows 8.1. After trying to restart my computer again I can't get to the desktop anymore. Every time I select to boot from Windows 8.1 (I somehow got dual boot going between Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 setup) the computer freezes after showing the Windows 8 icon. Also, when I boot from Windows 7 startup, the screen will just go black and the monitor and keyboard become unresponsive. Any ideas as to what I should do from here?
