Which 1155 Board?

the H80i and H100i which i have are fine with noise level, i tend to have 5.1 headphones on but even with them off i dont notice it, sabertooth z77 is expensive but its worth it as it lasts longer than most boards, i have the X79 board and its great, plus it looks awesome

I will certainly not wait another year or more for skylake! If they turn out to be far better, I ll just upgrade again then. As far as GPU goes, the next one will be a K6000 or better.

 

@Chenty, yeah i was actually gonna get the MPower. Good to hear some msi user experience. 

 

@Mystikal, since I am an overclocking noob, I think 4.2 will do just fine. Now its just the question of 3770K or 4770K! thoughts? :P

3770k and 4770k are different sockets. And 4770k is 10% faster

@jclappers, I am not going for "fine" I am going for "as quiet as can be" since I will be doing a lot of overnight rendering. If the board lasts me 2-3 years then thats enough. I really don't care about looks. If it was pink and gold I'd still buy it if its the most suitable for my needs. 

 

When Chenty said the mobos will be expensive for Haswell, how much moeny are we talking about at min. for a stable board? $200? $500?

Wait till Haswell if you've held out this long. Get a nice 4770K and I'd personally go with the Sabertooth but that's just me.

I'd say if you've held out for this long, wait till Haswell. If you think Asus MoBos are really pricey, your best option would probably be Gigabyte or AsRock.

Are you sure thats $488 WITH the CPU?! o.O that seems a bit strange considering the Deluxe is only 50 bucks less without the CPU. If thats true I might go for that one. Thanks for linking the source :)

 

@DontUSASme the TUF boards are certainly the best boards and will last me the longest, but they come with a very high price. Since I want to buy a WS in a year or so with two xeon processors, so I won't be needing the longest lasting board out there. ;)

Thats what it says but these prices are not certain so I am still not sure about these prices until Haswell cpus and boards release their real prices, They are releasing tmrw which is pretty exciting! :)

It appears the ROG boards are rather expensive and won't be out until later sometime. So I am stuck between the ASUS Sabertooth, Pro, and the A.S.ROCK Boards. I have no idea how good ASROCK mainboards are! Any input is greatly appreciated!

If you want budget boards, go with Asrock. If you want good quality budget overclocking board, go with a Asus Z87-A Board. If you have the money, go with a Asus Pro board because you won't need their thermal armor unless you are trying to create a clean build. Are you now planning to switch to Haswell? If so, maybe change your title so people know what board you are looking for.

Well I have decided to go for a 4770K with a Sabertooth Z87. I know the thermal armor doesn't do much, but i like the looks of it, and since I just "found" some money I figured I can pay the extra 50 bucks, compared to the Pro boards. Should I still change the title?

Its out, its cheap, not much of an improvement for desktops so i would just go the little cheaper and get a Ivy Bridge
