RAM Overclocking Issues Biostar Mobo

Go to solution Solved by KamiKatze,

It's called double density RAM for a reason. The clock speed that you're given there will be doubled effectiveley. So 665.1 is actually 1333 MHz. So if you want to get to 1600 MHz you need to dial in 800 MHz.

I am having trouble getting my ram up to 1600 Mhz through my BIOS. It is currently only running  at 665.1 Mhz. I have updated my BIOS to the latest version. Biostar makes their RAM settings very confusing. I set my BIOS to XMP Profile 1 and it raised to 750 Mhz (or something like that). Any ideas?

PC Specs:

Intel Core i5-3470

Biostar B75MU3+ (No one has ever heard of it, I know).

Corsair Vengeance 8GB  DDR3-1600

EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti

Windows 7

I rather use horseshit to put my componants on than Biostar. Please just get another mobo...

Please don't be so ignorant. I know that Biostar hardware is rather cheap but it's still hardware and has to function correctly, it's not like it's a chinese rip-off with a socket 775 disguised as LGA 1150. ;)

I know, it is awful, but it was cheap and I was on a budget.

It'll do. Try setting it to 800 MHz. This should then run at the correct speed. To verify you can use GPU-Z i think... dunno if it shows RAM speeds too.

Turns out setting it to XMP profile 1 raises it to 798.1 which is about 1600 mhz. Thanks for the advice. Problem solved.

are they allowed to do that ._.

the 780ti - still destroys the red team at 20 less degrees

Who needs your Titan Z when we have the R9 295X2?

Sorry about that. I actually like both. I have to use NVIDIA for flight simulation, but for everything else it's AMD, just because they're cheaper.
