Looks good to me!

Although I would personally grab a Pentium G3220 or similar for the same cost, its a bit more powerful

really doesn't matter a core2duo would be fine

How is that relevant?

If something is better for the same cost, then it makes more sense to buy it......

it's web browsing. no way it's gonna use more than one core.

Yeah exactly, the Pentium is faster in single threaded applications where as the 5350 is a quad core and will be much slower at browsing/music normal computer tasks

I am using a G3220 pentium at work and on my home file server, on an SSD they absolutely FLY through normal tasks

Also upgradable in the future if needed

I dont think the speed of the CPU and the upgradablity is a priority as the computer is for the OP's grandmother.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I done two systems. just threw them together in work.

The first is an AMD Build

CPU: AMD 2650 1.45Ghz Dual-Core Processor  ($31.00 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI AM1I Mini ITX AM1 Motherboard  ($34.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($39.98 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 80GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($21.49 @ Amazon)

And the second is an intel. the only differences are the mobo and CPU.

He already has a case and power supply so you do not need to waste money on one, I think the OPs choice of SSD would make it much nicer than a mech drive

Also of course the CPU and performance is important, people hate slow computers, regardless of usage, the celeron and pentium cost auot the same as the 5350 and you can get a h81 board for about the same price

Desktop - Corsair 300r i7 4770k H100i MSI 780ti 16GB Vengeance Pro 2400mhz Crucial MX100 512gb Samsung Evo 250gb 2 TB WD Green, AOC Q2770PQU 1440p 27" monitor Laptop Clevo W110er - 11.6" 768p, i5 3230m, 650m GT 2gb, OCZ vertex 4 256gb,  4gb ram, Server: Fractal Define Mini, MSI Z78-G43, Intel G3220, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, 4x 3tb WD Reds in Raid 10, Phone Oppo Reno 10x 256gb , Camera Sony A7iii

Just my 2 cents :)

Motherboard: ASRock H81M-HDS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($56.00 @ Vuugo)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($44.99 @ Canada Computers)
Total: $210.98

PS: Just checked and the G3220 MURDERS the 5350 in single core performance and is a bit faster in multi core performance :D I would go with this over the AMD build if you can spare the extra $10.

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

I have that same APU and mobo in my HTPC. Use 1600mhz RAM because it actually needs it. Pair it with an SSD and it's plenty fast enough and really low power. I'm running mine off a 90w notebook powerbrick/charger. :P

G3220 or Athlon 5350, they're both entry level CPUs/APUs and you're grandmother will probably never notice any difference (especially with an SSD), so it's really up to you which to choose.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7R3TZL tis? btw do u need gpu

A few points:

-Doesn't need 8GB ram, even for windows 7 or 8.1 for basic use/browsing.

-Mechanical HDDs are sloooow - thus, for low-usage, low-spec machines that don't need large capacity storage, it makes more sense to go SSD and get the best performance possible.

-They don't need a GPU. The Athlon 5350 is an APU and the Pentium's also have integrated graphics which are both powerful enough for it's intended usage.
