Hi guys planning to build the following : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JyM7sY

I will be running a single monitor setup and will primarily be using it to play games and do some light CAD work.

Would appreciate any suggestions for other GPU and SSD options or any other cooler options.

This build look VERY familiar :3

Anyway like what I said on that other post, the 212 EVO I choose if the default choice for a cheap air cooler, other good air cooler might be the Dark Rock Pro 3. Or if you want AIO Water cooler then get the H110 or H220-X

Samsung EVO is a very good SSD brand, other option might be Kingston V300 for a cheaper SSD but not as good (it's good enough for me though)

My rig: Intel Core i7 4790k | MSI Z97 PC Mate | GSKILL Ripjaws X 16GB 1866MHz | ADATA Premier SP550 480GB SSD | Seagate Barracuda 3TB | Seagate Barracuda 2TB  | MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 | Thermaltake Versa N21 | Corsair CX550M Semi Modular PSU | AOC G2460PF 144Hz | Logitech G502 | GSKILL Ripjaws KM780  | GAMDIAS HEPHAESTUS V2  PCPartPicker | Old Build Log | New Build Log

Unfortunatey you need to post the permalink because the link is taking it to whoever clicks on it parts list.

For light CAD (assuming no detailed 3D etc), anything you build for gaming will be fine.

Possible get a little more RAM than you might normally 12-16GB would be perfect.

i5s will work well, but if you can stretch to an i7, you'll get an advantage while multitasking (as you normally do) while using CAD software.

EDIT: just saw you added the permalink, looks good, other than I would stick to Win7 IMO

Oh, that explain it :P

@jerkybeef: You have an overkill PSU, you only need around 550-600W PSU for a build like this. Light CAD work might not need an i7 4790k, get an i5 4690k instead

For cooler like my previous post, get 212 EVO for a cheap/good air cooler, get Dark Rock Pro 3 for a very good air cooler at a much more higher price, or go AIO with H110 or H220-X

A R9 290 is about the same as a R9 290x at a much cheaper price, so get that instead

Thx @Megazero, would the change from the 290x to 290 cause any signicant gaming(BF4) difference ? Also if i am not going for the over clocking route would the H110 be overkill ?

If you are not OC you wont even need an after market cooler in the first place (though I'd say I will get one anyway since the stock cooler look ugly) so get a 212 EVO then

For 290x vs 290 on BF4... you are looking at about 5 fps differetn between them
