Project Chameleon (My First build)

Skcorpion86

So I decided to get into PC gaming in 2012. I bought this PC off off a friend

Intel core i7 860 @ 2.8Ghz

EVGA GTX Geforce 470

Asus P7H55-M Motherboard

4 GB of patriot RAM DDR3 @1333 MHz

Stock CPU cooler

OCZ Extreme 700w Power supply

160 Seagate HDD

Thermaltake V3 Black Edition Computer Case

After owning it for a couple weeks I upgraded a couple parts, I bought...

Corsair H80 CPU cooler

Corsair Vengeance 1x8 GB RAM @1600 MHz

Cooler Master HAF 932 (Blue LED Edition)

2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD

in Febuary 2013 I upgraded my GPU to a GTX 670...

The last few weeks I have been buying parts and started building a new PC  from scratch for the very first time in my life...

My new PC...

  • Processor- Intel Core i7 4790K overclocked to  4.7 GHz
  • Graphics Card- Galaxy GeForce GTX 670 GC 2GB (Carried over from last PC)
  • Motherboard- Asus z97-AR
  • CPU Cooler- Corsair H100i AIO Liquid Cooler
  • Memory- 1 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 @ -1600 MHz (Carried over from last PC)
  • -SSD- 1TB Samsung 840 Evo
  • HDD- 2TB Seagate Barracuda (Carried over from last PC)
  • Power Supply- EVGA 850w G2 80+Gold
  • Case- Corsair 450D
  • Operating System- Windows 8.1

I plan on upgrading my ram to 16GB of A-Data XPG V2 @ 2400 MHz next friday, and probably to 32GB later after that.
I also plan on buying 2 top tier GPUs from NVIDIA when they come out with a new series of GPUs. I'm looking to get two 880s (assuming that is wghat they will be called)
I plan on buying the corsair commander mini and some RGB leds to go with it very soon to get a constant color changing effect that rolls through the entire color spectrum like my CPU cooler already. This is why I call it "Chameleon"
I plan on changing out the fans that came with the H100i because there is something wrong with one of them and I don't feel like
     doing a RMA
I went will all black components to go with the constant color changing LEDs (Black goes good with all the colors   )

But yeah got it build by myself, had some issues with the PC booting up, but after I couple of days I figured out the BIOS needed updated. First build I have ever done. Thanks for all the build guides Linus! :)

Pics are on my public facebook post (link below). LTT does not let me upload pictures the pictures I take with my phone.  I think I did a decent job with the cable management though, let me what you think.

What if I told you I do more than just gaming?  ;)

Going to do a lot of streaming and video editing on this thing as well.

Then you're in the same boat as me. Although if you stream you should try QuickSync with OBS, it frees up the cpu power and off loads it to the integrated gpu giving you massive performance.

then you are justified, you may want to add a stick of ram then too, and i would look at a gpu upgrade to a 800 series gpu

I was planning on using Xsplit to be honest...

I am doing both of those :)

I said I was going to put 16GB of RAM in my original post (possibly 32GB in the long future) and I also said I planned on doing two top tier 800 series cards in SLI when they come out. ( I need a lot of GPU power for triple monitor gaming, I get really low FPS with the 670 when I do surround gaming, I want to be able to run games on Ultra, 1080p on all three monitors with 60+ FPS)
