Seriously, aha. I notice it's mostly when I have my heater or printer (or both) running when I'm doing stuff on my computer or playstation. I get light to moderate light flickers. Granted, I have a shit ton of stuff in my room, is it something to be concerned about? It's a big laser printer, so I'm sure the power consumption is pretty high.

You are pulling too much power, for a moment, so there is a drop in current.

Usually electronic device have circuitry (which involves using capacitors) in some or all areas to avoid any problem for short moment.

If you turn on your vacuum cleaner you can sometimes see the lights of a or some rooms (depending on how your home is wired up) dims down in illumination and goes backup as the vacuum starts.

You have the same problem in cars when you start them, and have lights and the heater or A/C turned on.

Now, I don't know where you live, but if you are in Canada and U.S, and you don't have much equipment attached and you have this problem, I would call an electrician to make sure the house is up to code.

Usually, it a problem for old houses, where the wiring was not designed for so many electronic devices attached, and even the fuze box not designed for the load. If you have or know someone with fuzes that burns often, this may be the cause. The worst, is that some people get fed up, and instead of actually re-wiring the house or section of the house to correct the problem (it is costly), they use larger fuzes, which leads to hide the problem, as now the wires will get the hit, and can start potentially a fire in the walls. But that is a different problem.

Nah. You're just having a stroke when you print something. Quit it.

Goodbytes has the key. I betcha the house is old. 100 amp or even 60 amp service. That's not much and too many things drawing power. Laser printers are a bitch. There's a huge heater in them to fuse the toner onto the paper which is why the paper is warm when you first get it out of the tray. To really warm them up fast would cause a fire so they draw intense power just for a second. That's why you see the flickers as your draw is overwhelming everything else on the circuit. You need to isolate the printer on its own circuit if you can. Never put a laser printer on a powerbar or a UPS. They need to be plugged into the wall.

This can happen, I think @GoodBytes is right. I know someone with an old house and they sometimes can't start their electric oven when someone is using the power shower. It's one of those quirks of electrical wiring in old buildings.

my monitors power cycle when I turn on my amplifier.

I would love an amp like that :P

It's a 150w amplifier, nothing special I was just commenting that when it powers up it causes that issue, it's not caused by the amp rather the old electrics in this house.

Aww, I was hoping it was some super powerful amp :P
