Posted August 22, 2014 Hi guys, I have decided to upgrade to windows 8 (and then 8.1) from windows 7 due to a recent memory upgrade (I can only use 16GB on home premium). First, I was told to uninstall Intel Network Connections. Some hours later, I managed to uninstall it after some work in the registry editor... I thought I was good to go, but no. Now I need to uninstall 'Intel Wired Proset for windows'. This application doesn't seem to exist on my system and should have been uninstalled with Intel Network Connections. I fiddled around in regedit for a bit longer, but I can't fix this issue. Has anyone ever had this issue and solved it? All of the guides I have seen don't help. Posted August 23, 2014 Author Just in case anyone also had this issue, I solved the problem by choosing to keep just personal files. Then once it allows you to install, click back and choose keep personal files and applications. Then it let me update and keep all of my applications.
