Which model is the best for cooling? I'm kinda aiming for a black and red themed r9 290 for aesthetics.

Vapor-x is the best cooler, if you need it to be black and red however asus dcuii is the only choice... Of course you can paint some of the shroud on the vapor-x but not the fans. There is no red version as far as I know.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

how about the MSI twin frozr? (i saw from other post that the cooling sucks for r9290... but it seems to be working really good for my 660 currently)

why not? The asus one looks a bit better imo though (personal taste, choose the one YOU like :) )

Whatever you do dont get the asus one. Maybe one from msi?

I have an asus one, it's perfect. Doesn't deserve all the bad press (in fact I think there's been a silent revision after the early models).

is it because that they basically copied the heatsink from the 780 version? :o but i heard from other post that MSI cooling isnt good for some reason....

Ye. i think the asus one is fixed but still not worth it. There is a guy who reviews all the 290's on this forum let me see if i can find it.

Red/Black theme would be the MSI and Asus flavors....have not heard much about MSI but Asus seemed to have dropped the ball on the VRM cooling.....unless they have corrected it recently.  Sapphire and Gigabyte have a triple fan setup and seem to provide decent cooling.  The Gigabyte is all black with a black PCB....no red, but you could mod the front support bracket with Plasti-Dip if you choose.  Sapphire is my personal choice in GPUs and the Tri X will be my next upgrade from my 7970.  You also have  Good luck and happy gaming :)

Almost forgot, Power Color has an all black 290 although don't know much about the performance.....

Case: Silverstone SG09B Motherboard: MSI Z10 Morter M-ATX CPU: I5-6600K  Ram: Corsair LP 2400 DD4 16GB GPU: MSI RX 480 Storage: Seagate HDD Baracuda 2TB x2, Crucial M200 500GB SSD X2 (Raid 0)PSU: Silverstone Strider Gold 1000W w/PP05E Kit
