Replacement for the Astro A40's

Hey people,

 

I bought a pair of astro a40 (2013 edition) last year in april. March this year i needed to replace them ( under warranty ). This pair of Astro a40's is having the same problem as my last pair

so i am going to get a refund and buy a different pair.

 

The refund will give me about $300 AUD ( that being the budget)

 

What headset ( prefer headset over headphones ) would be the best i could get for my budget, I'd prefer to have surround (5.1 or 7.1) but it's not necessary.

 

I have a Creative Soundblaster Recon 3D Fatality so i dont want USB headsets.

Sennheiser 363d's. Best quality microphone you will get with the best sound I have ever heard from a headset. It's wired however. Only real drawback is that....and the velvet earcups get fuzzy after a while and need to be cleaned...?

 

Edit: The review says it's 300 it's actually 240 on amazon now.

maybe get a dt770 and a mod mic 3.0

@SeanBondI am in Australia so I don't use Amazon that much, but from a site i buy from they are 270 AUD.

Do you use them with the USB or the Jacks? i'll be using them with the Jacks if i get them. Basically wonder how good the quality is witht he jacks and not the dolby

It's based on either the ATH-AD500X or 700X (though those both sound the same anyways). I know that doesn't tell you anything about the mic, but you can find plenty of good reviews about the headphones.
