I want a micro atx with and amd socket for the FX series processors, to put into a Corsair Air 240, that one supports Micro ATX boards but it just fits and the edge of it cant allow fan installation, so the mini itx gives a bit more room for fans and maybe a thin radiator where micro atx doesnt allow it. Im just gonna run 1 graphics card and 2 sticks of ram, for 8 or 16 gigs.

The board budget is no more then 100 US bucks. Thanks

In that case can you recommend any good ones for an i5-4670k? i belive its the 1150 socket if im not mistaken

it is, i would go with one of these:

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz97ngaming5

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-z97igamingac

You should also consider the i5-4690K it has better thermals but same performance.

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

Both of them seem prety good the MSI's price IS TOO DAMN HIGH and the gigabyte is "ok" but can you find one that is less than 100?

mini ITX is pricey, would you pick a micro ATX board?

This is the cheapest miniITX Z97 socket 1150 motherboard available:

what about a locked core i5 and a H97 motherboard? that would cost less $ as well...

I WOULD but on the case i chose a micro atx goes just to rim of the case, it JUST FITS and on that rim that its sits on there is a rack for 120mm fans, and i wanna get at least 1 in there without resoring to the ghetto method, where you just jam the fan into whatever little open spot on the motherboard and hold it with just 1 screw. are there any micro ATX that are smaller, i only need 1 PCIE slot, for a single GPU

As said ITX AM3+ doesn't exist, you're probably going to want Intel.

I have an ASUS Z97i-Plus and I can give it a solid thumbs up.

MSI Z87i Gaming AC gets the thumbs up from me aswell. ITX boards however are pricey, same features as an atx or matx squeezed on a small board costs money.

@maplegl, luckily you don't need much to overclock a haswell. I get 4.6ghz on the 4phased z87i.
