If you looked around for any new monitors lately, you'll notice that it is hard to get everything you want.

-IPS or PLS panel

-matte finish panel

-1080p minimum resolution, higher is better (1440p)

-less than 5ms response time

-120Hz or faster refresh rate

-LED backlight

-DisplayPort

 

-thin bezels

-$350 or less

-future points

-OLEDs

-super resolution (UltraHD, 4k)

-3D support

 

 

 

Sometimes you can find a monitor that has some things, but not others. For example, here's two Asus monitors, both of which are good, and better if they could be combined!

I have this bookmarked as a potential for me when it comes to uprade.

They don't make IPS panels that actually do 120hz without significant ghosting. The korean ones can drive 120hz, but it doesn't look as smooth as 120hz, especially without lightboost.

Either you go for a 120/144Hz TN panel or a 60Hz IPS panel... there are no IPS panels that have over 60Hz.

I am considering 144Hz, but been holding back because of colors. Is it possible to calibrate it with one of those fancy-dancy monitor calibrating tools?

Acer and LG have monitors that use the same LG panel, I believe the LG version does have a vesa mount but I think it loses the matte surface
