however i have used up all of my DVI inputs so i would need a DVI to HDMI adapter, OR should i get a monitor that just has HDMI? Please recommend one :P

I personally would jump up to 23" as I find it to be the sweet spot. http://www.ncix.com/detail/aoc-23in-framless-tft-lcd-7b-88456-1784.htm - This is what I'd get, also has IPS! Use a HDMI cable.

Either one would work, Currently I use a HDMI to DVI cable to connect my laptop to my monitor and it works great.

That should work ^

If you decide to get a 24" monitor then I strongly recommend going the 1920x1200 route.
