No, skylake will be the next consumer platform update and will be socket LGA 1151 and will support DDR4 and PCIe 4.0, both features are virtualy useless for gamers and 99% of the users out there but they will still be available...skylake is due for late 2015.

DDR4 will first be available for haswell-E on socket LGA 2011 chipset X99

PCIe 4 went out the window until Skylake-E, much to my chagrin.

hahaha great...PCIe 2.0 was all we really needed anyway, PCI3.0 is ubber overkill unless you are using a raid of PCIexpress SSD...wich we dont ;)

Yet! Kingston has a solution for that lol. It's a 6-M.2 to PCIe conversion bay. It's so funny it hurts.

6TB of PCIe SSD anyone (who could afford it? >.>)

I'll take two thanks.

That's how much 3.2 TB of PCIe SSD costs. You want 4?

For consumers, even PCI-e 3.0 is slight overkill.

I blame Samsung for not coming out with a better/faster controller for their XP941 M.2 ultra SSD. I demand my 4GB/s read/write speeds lol.

PCIe 4 is supposed to be 256/258 encoding as well as have 16 GT/s bandwidth. I want it if solely for the purpose to split each 4.0 lane in 2.

Probably the same people buying 12 Core, 24 Thread Xeons, or 2 of them

So, is it Broadwell doesn't support DDR4, or will there be another chipset from Intel which supports both Broadwell and DDR4?

I don't think Broadwell will bring DDR4 to mainstream only because it's not changing from the Z97 chipset (confirmed). It'll be on Broadwell-E for sure (if we even get desktop Broadwell. I suspect we might just jump to Skylake given the new instruction snafu on Haswell and Broadwell).
