I am wondering which one is better: apples or potatoes?

This.

Each brand is good in its own right.

AMD has lots of room for overclocking and is great for a tight budget, and still delivers solid performance and great multitasking ability.

Intel processors have better performance per core, and while they are generally much more expensive, the extremely powerful performance matches the price.

tl;dr

Budget < $200 --> AMD

Budget > $200 --> Intel

Yeah, I gotta say this much, unless you're a brand new poster, there's no excuse for this. Unless there's a brand new line of CPUs out then the answer is the same found in at least 3 other threads. I swear we should keep a master benchmarking thread just for this (not Cinebench since the Intel compiler incident).

As said before 4690K for gaming is an awesome choice or AMD´s FX8350. And before you open yet another thread... Z97 chipset for Intel and FX990 for AMD in terms of mainboards :).

For that high end of a GPU, you have to get an Intel processor.  The FX processors will bottleneck that high end of a GPU.

Because you are currently on a 760 chipset, you will have to upgrade your motherboard anyways, might as well go Intel.

The only reason why I really prefer Intel these days is the much greater performance per watt that they have, along with more feature rich motherboards.

Ok thank you!

Ok this is great help!

Yeah that´s just as annoying as those people that have to multiposte because editing a post seems to be pretty tough ;).

I apologize, I'm currently in Hungary and I replied in a haze of exhaustion. In the future, please scan the forums for similar questions ahead of time. Chances are you'll find a close copy about 3 pages in.

I always go with intel cpu's now. As for gpu's, it doesn't really matter to me.
