It would be awesome to see a Mac within the same pricerange of a PC ...

A friend of mine has a Macbook pro, and I just love the way it works and how blazing fast it is ...

Okay it is way more expensive, but the system just works ...

I guess about 40% of everybody that says "Mac sucks boooo!" has an iPhone (wich really REALLY sucks btw!).

Proud to be from Belgium.

If you can't open it, then you don't own it.

No, but really. Most Mac's come with good/great monitors while the internals of the hardware is a bit so-so when it comes to price:performance.

The main reason to get one over the other would be what you are used to using for most people. I personally think that Apple products are a little more "idiot-proof".

Mac is too restricted. You simply do not know what is really in your computer, and you barely have the option to keep it up to date yourself (can't do your own upgrades). Apple does this on purpose, because that is really the only way they can make money. Also, Apple computers are EXTREMELY OVERPRICED and for the same amount of money for something like a Macbook Pro, you can buy a kick-ass PC!
To answer your guy's question about what is inside Apple products, It is all Foxconn products up to the screen which was made by Samsung up until Apple decided to sue Samsung back in October of 2012 LOL :) You should never sue the hand that feeds you. Now that Samsung no longer makes there screens I can't wait to see what Crappale screens will look like now LOL :)

If I were you I would build my own kick ass PC and then make a Hackintoch with it so you can have Windows OS and Apple OSX installed on the same machine. Thats what I Have, My work has all iMac Computers and they believe strongly in it, I on the other hand do not so for work projects I will use Crapple for my scripting I have to do for work and when not doing that I switch back to my windows OS

There was once a time when the best Windows 7 laptop that you could buy was a MacBook with boot camp.

I would say that still the best argument for PC is the value and customization. Ever try to upgrade a Mac Pro or iMac? Good luck with that...

The ONLY software that I have found that exists exclusively on OSX that doesn't have a reasonable competitor or replacement on Windows is XCode.

If you want to make iOS games/apps, it has to be OSX. And let's face it, the iOS has cornered the market for monetizability. Argue all you want, but at the end of the day, tons more people spend money in the iOS ecosystem than Android/WinPhone/BB

Macs can be pretty sometimes but thats pretty much it. When it comes to everything else Windows wins. The thing I hate most is that if I argue with a mac person about this they just say "It costs more and its prettier so its better" or "You only say that cause your used to windows".

Just gonna say that as a filmmaker, I prefer the mac ecosystem with Final Cut. I've toyed with the idea of going Adobe or AVID on my self-built rig but I don't think I'm ready to switch yet. As some other people have been saying, different people have different needs, and I think some people hate macs just because they want to hate on someone. Whether you like the company or not, you have to admit they make good products, with most of the time, extraordinary design. I'm not saying that other companies don't have great design because they do, but I feel that its fair to say that Apple has set the bar before and might again in plenty of areas. Obviously this forum is going to be biased, but its all tech, and if you dislike Apple's products, maybe you appreciate your self built modded watercooled rig a lot more. :P

PS. not a fanboy :)

When I hear this question, I just hear "Dell or PC?" or "Hewlett-Packard or PC?". Macs are PCs. They use all the same parts. The fact that they created their own Unix kernel is nice, but you can install it on any computer provided its similar to the models of hardware Apple chooses, since they decided to make it against the license agreement to install it on a non-Apple branded device, so hardware manufacturers can't support illegal activity by making OS X drivers for their hardware. But there is hardware similar enough that it works, you just have to pick carefully.

Apple just focuses on appearance, because for the general society who is not computer literate, that's the most important thing. Not specs. In fact Apple refuses to say the exact model numbers of their CPUs, just "i7" or "i5". Apple computers are PCs in nice cases, I'll give them one for their cases being tasteful/high quality, which does set them apart from other PC manufacturers, and instead of Windows they install another operating system that looks different. So the physical machine looks different, and the UI looks different, so Apple can charge twice as much because to the average consumer it appears to be a far superior machine, even if it doesn't have the power to back it up. Although I suppose they do need to make back some money from their needlessly proprietary designs.

It's just a PC with a nice case and a Unix kernel installed instead of Windows... OS X is really the only big thing that separates it from other PCs, and customer service I suppose, but the former is not really an Apple exclusive if that's what gets you. And customer service... well if you build your own, you won't be needing that hehe. I just don't see any compelling reason why a Mac is so much better than any other computer... Anyone who buys it while knowing what they're talking about really has to justify the extra $1000 or whatever on the design and construction of the casing, because that's the only thing honestly that you can't get on another PC. But when's the last time you saw a $1000 case on Newegg or NCIX?
