in the midst of building a new rig is it worth it to wait, for the haswell-e lineup, I'm going for a 4930k right now, and if I wait ill only be able to afford the 5820k and not the 5960x, also is ddr4 that big of an upgrade from ddr3 aside fromm power consumption and more storage, also if it is worth it will they release a m-atx board, becuase all I'm seeing now is atx for the upcoming release.

THE BUILD IS SOLELY FOR GAMING

Solely for gaming? 2011 is a complete waste of money for that. Go for an i5 and be done with it. DDR4 will likely be a sort downgrade at release. It's faster and higher density, but the latency is much worse and it's over 50% more expensive than DDR3.

Unless you plan on 3-4 way SLI/Crossfire, 2011 is not at all necessary for you. And seeing as you're wanting an MATX board, I'll assume you're not doing that.

EDIT: Also, if you're going for a 2011 (In this case 2011-3) socket, an M-ATX board is a complete waste. One of the main reasons of going for 2011 socket/X chipset is the amount of PCI lanes. With an M-ATX board, you can't use it to its full potential.

Don't go with 2011 if its just for gaming. A regular 1150 i5 or i7 will be more than enough.

For gaming I'd just go with a 4790k unless you need all the PCI-E lanes for QuadFire or something.

I don't think there is a X79 M-ATX board? So I'd guess there won't be one for X99.

I wouldn't even consider the evga board, they tend to have a premium price on everything related to motherboards.

I'd go matx x99. I need the six cores more than I care about PCI lanes/slots. plus i could get a smaller case.

I;d love to see a none ROG asus matx board that is actually pretty good.

Then for now only the Asrock X99M-Killer exists

there is two motherboards that are x79 m-atx one is asus iv gene and the other is from Asrock, also I will be doing quad crossfire on my board becuase I plan on using 2x r9295x2

as described earlier, your quad idea can be handled by the Z97 (x8x8) with no

saturation issues on the PCIe 3.0. strictly gaming on LGA2011 is e-peen with

little to no better performance edge over the Z-series boards.

EVGA X99 (if they got the UEFI figured out) mATX:

generally evga has a premium for the boards in canada. that it's not even worth considering, plus I hear a lot of the boards have some problems.
