100 watt power supply? I hope that is a typo mate.

EVGA 850W G2. 10 year warranty, all Japanese caps, good looking cables and PSU, 80+ Gold. You don't need 1000W. There's also a 1000W and 1300W G2 if you want 1000W+ anyway.

fans, optical drives, and SSDs use so little power that they're not even worth considering when you buy a PSU. When buying a PSU, you only need to consider your graphics cards unless you're water cooling. You need at least a 600W PSU for a modern $200+ graphics card (those are the numbers I go by and some people might think differently and that's ok, because we are on the Internet and we are all respectful). For every graphics card you add, I would increase the PSU wattage by 200 if it's a high efficiency PSU. Also, don't use a PSU if it's not high efficiency because that's just dumb to power 2 graphics cards with an 80 plus bronze PSU. There's no actual official number on wattage and no real rule of thumb number, but that's my own rule of thumb and I think many people will agree with me. For 2 graphics cards, anything over 800 watts will be fine as long as it's efficient.

I get 60 frames at 1080p on a dual core APU. Ask me how.

AMD FX 8350 CPU / R9 280X GPU / Asus M5A97 LE R 2.0 motherboard / 8GB Kingston HyperX Blue 1600 RAM / 128G OCZ Vertex 4 SSD / 256G Crucial SSD / 2T WD Black HDD / 1T Seagate Barracude HDD / Antec Earthwatts 650W PSU / Coolermaster HAF 922 Case

An 80 plus bronze psu is perfectly fine as long as it is a good quality unit.

yeah but I look at the 80 plus thing like this: would you trust a $150 PSU if it's 80 plus bronze? It's a gamble. I'm not saying a good 850W Bronze rated PSU doesn't exist, but would you spend your money on it? A good OEM like Seasonic wouldn't release a nice high dollar PSU if it was 80 plus Bronze. It's like an indicator.

also if it's providing that much power and it's not as efficient as some others, then some of the extra energy pulled is lost as heat.

edit: I'm mistaken, they do sell an 850W bronze PSU. Still not going to buy it though.

I have an XFX 750W Bronze psu. It is made by Seasonic. There are also power supplies like the Antec High Current Gamer 900W which is a Bronze rated unit. That is made by Delta, who are the best in the business. The 850W Modular version is a Seasonic.

Then you have power supplies like the corsair CS 750W Gold, which is not as good as any of the above.

So to answer your question, yes I would trust an 80 Plus Bronze psu.

That's fine. It probably works fine for you. I would trust one to work too and would probably never have a problem with it. But I still wouldn't buy one. If I'm buying 2 graphics cards then I'm not buying a lower efficiency PSU. And I encourage someone who's spending the money on graphics cards to invest in a high efficiency PSU as well.

Why? That's stupid

Because I want to buy an efficient PSU if I buy 2 graphics cards. Why? Because this is what I think is best. Reason? My gut. If you have the money to spend on 2 graphics cards then why would you buy anything less?

It's not any less. The efficiency does not matter.

How does it?

Please don't do this back and forth. If you have a legitimate point to make don't sit there and make an assertion and then ask me to explain MYSELF. I think efficiency matters. I have reasons. I gave him my advice about PSUs. If you have anything to add direct it at him, don't sit there and go back and forth with me about it.

I can't explain how something doesn't matter. There are no ways it matters. It saves very few monies on electricity, and runs slightly cooler. That's it.
