integrated graphics RAM allocation?

Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

1GB is the minimum

but its the RAM speed that affects graphics performance

much similar to how the AMD APU works

the faster the system RAM is

you get better fps in games

So I was in my BIOS yesterday and made my way into the iGPU area and saw that i have 64MB of RAM allocated to my integrated graphics on my computer. I was also able to change that to 32mb, 64mb, 128mb, 521mb, 1Gb but I didnt do anything to it.

Could I change it to higher to help boost frames? and would it hurt anything, I have 8Gb of XPG v2.

(i know i need a GPU but this was to get me back online, i'm getting a Gtx-750ti ASAP)

CPU: Pentium G3258 OC 4.0GHz MOBO: MSI Z87-G41 PC MATE GPU: ASUS Strix Gtx-750Ti 2Gb RAM: 2x4Gb ADATA XPGv2 @ 1866Mhz PSU: EVGA 500B HDD: 500Gb WD Scorpio Black, 1Tb WD Blue

I am to lazy to update this, but not to lazy to strike it out and write this.

Try it and see if you get any performance improvements, probably yes but idk how much.

It will not ruin anything :) it is completely safe.

its gonna be 1333Ghz cause my CPU can only handle it cause its a G 3258. And that something I figured would be the case since most GPU's have RAM thats at 5.4Ghz

you could clock the RAM to 1600MHz

you mobo should allow you to set the RAM to be higher speed than what the onboard memory controller in the CPU can support

would you know where one a MSI z87-g41 PC MATE?

the BIOS where you adjust the CPU clock speed is where you can adjust the RAM speed

disable the auto mode for RAM speed

if your RAM has XMP profile

use that profile

otherwise

manually set the RAM to be 1600MHz 1.5V

I turned it up to 1866 since that is the advertised speed for my RAM

Since you have 8GB then just set it to 1GB for the iGPU. This way Windows will show 7GB of RAM, if that's enough for you to get done the things you need to do. If you have 4GB of RAM or something then something like 256 or 512MB will be better, but in your case just go with the highest.
