Got Windows from MS Dreamspark.

I would appreciate it if you guys look this build over and critique it. I'm especially concerned about the CPU cooler, motherboard, and power supply since I just chose those off of a list.

Also, what are your thoughts on 21:9 monitors?

Build looks alright so far.

You might want to add like a 1TB HDD for storage. The psu is a bit overkill for a single gpu system, you could go with a slightly cheaper like 600W solution, as long as it is from a trusted brand.

Personal Build Project "Rained-On"

helped building up the CPU Overclocking Database and GPU Overclocking Database, check them out ;)

Thanks! I have a 1TB external HD that I intend to use instead of in internal HD.

As for the PSU, I would like to be able to add a second GPU some time in the future.

looks good if you are on a budget i would go for an AMD FX series Processor but overall looks good a better CPU cooler is the corsair H80i or H100i

If you want to go for dual 290s in the future you might go with a 850W solution instead, those are pretty power hungry, especially when you overclock them ;)

if you get a second GPU you need an AMD R9 290 and run them in Cross fire for better performance your PSU looks fine to me tho

humm 1tb external hardrive only ? if you find a 50-55$ to spend on an internal one. I recommend using that and the external one has backup:

Seagate: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st1000dm003

Western Digital: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex

(I give you both since I don't really want to bother with the '' wich brand is the best '' thing :P  ) and personally. they both served me well.

I also recommend you keep your wattage at 750W for a psu. no need to go higher has wattage won't go higher that 700W with 2 cards (actually 427+250= max of 677W )

Edit: you don't nessesarly need a fully modular psu for your build either here is a cheaper one from evga also: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-110b10750vr

The PSU you suggested has a lower efficiency rating though =S

@DayOldPizza,

A few suggestions.

A Hyper 212 EVO cpu cooler. Less expensive. Quieter. Very good cooling.

An ATX motherboard. It will look better in the case and offers some more expansion slots.

A slightly less expensive ssd.

A much better psu. Has a 10 year warranty (don't forget to register). GPU manufacturers are quite varied in the minimum size of psu being recommended. Based on the gpu you selected 750W is sufficient for two gpu.

So if I use the ATX board, the power needed for crossfire increases from 677W to 687W. Is my PSU still okay with this change?

It is only 10W more and should be ok. If you would like a larger cushion consider the EVGA 220-G2-0850-XR. I think it is about $15 more.
